Claudia is my best friend and we share almost everything with each other, while, everything we feel free and comfortable to share. She is having this problem of thinking that she is not the one who makes the decision about how to live her life.

There are people whom she does not like in her life and she is now forcing herself to like them. Don’t be surprised because it happens, you don’t like the popular guy who is the center topics of the girls, you don’t like this girl because she tends to be showing off in the public, then, that is it, that is who you are, you don’t need to change yourself so that everyone would like you.

We talked over dinner last night about the problem she was facing with. Since she was a young kid, her life was pretty much arranged by her parents. She took the piano lessons despite how much she just wanted to choose violin, she was agreed to be sent to a summer camp in England though the place she was really fond of was Australia, she was majoring in law in collage because that was his father’s dream. Years had pasted and Claudia was finally left on her own, consolidating what had been built by other people’s hand.

To everyone else, to her father, she is the best kid who takes your words seriously and goes back home before ten o’clock you could have ever wished for; for her mother, she is the timid daughter who accepted her opinion of putting on a Ed Hardy suit on this friend of hers in a wedding ceremony; to her friends, she is the most considerate one among them. To be polite, she says hello and smiles to everyone she knows about though some of them are not the desirable candidates to make friends with, to be polite, she pretends to be a person she is not, she puts on a face that goes on well with all kinds of selective people. She seems to have it all, but she is tired, she has been acting for too long that she has lost her peculiar identity.

How many choices are there for the rest of us anyway? How many of us can say without hesitation that you are living your life, you are making your decision independently?
