Chic boutique offers Ed Hardy and Christian Audigier gear

November 26th, 2009

Right about now, most of us could use a little something… something sweet to titillate our fashionable peepers. Good thing the newly opened Eye Candy in Royal Oak has come to the rescue with their huge plethora of Ed Hardy and Christian Audigier gear.

That’s right, the line that’s oh-so-hot in L.A. has made its way to becoming more prevalent in the mitten state.

“The Ed Hardy sunglasses were really selling, but I found there was little in Michigan of the rest of Ed Hardy so I knew there was an opportunity to be had to open a store,” says Owner Jodi Epps, 38, of Bloomfield. “Ed Hardy seems to have no age, I see little kids up all the way up to 60-year-olds wearing it.”

What sort of “eye candy” do you have for us?
It’s the latest and hottest clothes, bags, sunglasses, belts, hats, lingerie, denim and coats for men and women.

Why Ed Hardy? What’s the draw?
It’s a hot brand and there was a small selection in Michigan so we wanted to bring the people what they wanted. It’s unique tattoo street wear, and tattoos are even bigger today; everyone seems to have one. This is tattoo fashion. People like the artwork, and what’s nice is the line has beautiful intimates to dresses. We may also carry Ed Hardy housewares in the future too.

How do you think the boutique pops?
We want to stay in tune with Royal Oak so we’re hip and trendy. We have the largest selection of Ed Hardy and with a big mural on the side of our wall you can’t miss us.

Why Royal Oak?
Its young demographic, it’s hip, trendy, has a great nightlife and it’s a walking community.

How do you think Eye Candy does and will keep up with the latest fashion trends?
We’re constantly researching the trends and will change with the times to keep up with fashion and give people what they want.

What does Eye Candy want to be known for?
A chic boutique store for guys and girls with great service and value and, we do sell up to 4X. We also have Single Vision Optical in the back part of our store where people can get designer prescription glasses for unbelievable prices.

And your prices?
For shirts we go from $70-$150, jeans up to $180 and sunglasses go up to $1,000.

You’re so brave opening up in these tough economic times, too…
It’s not that good economic wise, but as a result there’s opportunity. The city is losing businesses so we are providing choice and value for people and they’ll have that for the holidays, too. We still believe in Michigan and we want to support up and coming Michigan and the economy.

What can we expect for the holidays?
We’ll have a grand opening celebration with gift cards, sales and all the works. We’re also getting new merchandise daily.

What’s coming up next here?
I know it’s Ed Hardy now, but we’re looking at other lines, like Royal Underground by Nikki Sixx and Kelly Gray, also, Salvage and Affliction clothing. The hope is to be a popular boutique where people make Royal Oak a destination for shopping. Maybe we’ll expand more stores in Birmingham or Bloomfield.
