November 2nd, 2009

Dita Von Teese gets in a good workout after leaving a gym in Los Angeles on Friday (October 30).

The 36-year-old burlesque beauty won’t be dressing up in any costumes this year. “I’m sitting this Halloween out!” Dita wrote on her Twitter. “Too much work to be done, too jetlagged+mentally unprepared to have the spray tan required for my costume!”

She added, “I like to be some kind of LA girl, full disguise with tan, jeans, etc. This year I was going full Ed Hardy girl… But it’s too scary!” (Ed Hardy is the brand of clothes that Jon Gosselin endorses and wears all the time.)

Hailey Glassman Talks About Jon Gosselin and His “Mantrums”

October 31st, 2009

For those not up on Glassman/Gosselin speak, that’s a male version of a tantrum, and apparently, Jon’s been throwing lots of them lately. Hailey Glassman, his 22-year-old girlfriend, claims that while she’s in love with Jon, he’s emotionally abusive. Says Glassman: “He’ll call me and take his anger out on me…He has mantrums… I’ll cry and say, ‘why are you being so mean to me?’” She acknowledges that her life has changed for the worse – you know, now she gets threats. People call her a fat whore! Then she cries herself to sleep, which is probably what we’d do if we woke up one day and realized we were dating a guy who looks like he has down syndrome and who definitely has a serious pot belly along with an addiction to trashy Ed Hardy clothing.

We think it’s time for Hailey to kick Jon to the curb. It’s not like he’s bringing anything to the table besides drama. She needs to wash that man right outta her hair, and we’d suggest doing it with the organic soaps from skinnyskinny. This organic and eco-friendly bath, body and home store is about to open its first store at 129 Roebling Street in Brooklyn. Might we suggest Glassman hightail it to the BK?

How much is enough for Ed Hardy?

It is said that art imitates life and vice versa. With fashion very much being art, it makes sense that fashion trends influence over how we women paint our faces. Lip and eyeshadow colors go in and out of season, just like clothing, although there will always be classics like little black dresses, smoky eyes and red lips.

Recently, Miami Ink’s/LA Ink’s reality star and tattoo artist Kat Von D has launched her own tattoo inspired collection of fragrances & makeup palettes. Following suit is Ed Hardy, who has just recently released two makeup palettes, called Ed Hardy Color, in a kit called “Geisha” and another called (of course!) “Love Kills Slowly”.

Both kits include:

  • 6 eyeshadows
  • 6 lip glosses
  • Bronzer
  • Perfumes
  • 3 applicator brushes

One really neat thing that sets the palettes apart from any others I’ve seen: The box that houses the makeup lights up so you can have good lighting for application.

Overall, the colors are pretty classic and include eyeshadows you can use to follow the season’s trendy grey eyeshadow and heavily smoked eyes. The only thing truly trendy about the kits is the box design, and of course the Ed Hardy moniker.

And now? I’ve pretty much seen it all. Ed Hardy bottled water, vodka, clothes, air fresheners, lighters, dog clothes, key chains…the list goes on and on! Ed Hardy has capitalized off anything he can slap his name and logo on, making millions in the process, while subsequently engaging in a heated legal battle with designer Christian Audigier.

Meanwhile, the clothing lines continue to be a favorite with celebs from New York to LA and everywhere in between; the Ed Hardy website states that they have a following of over 5,000 celebs from athletes to actors. Some include rapper Fabolous and the ever obnoxious, always in the media as of late Jon Gosselin, who has pretty much turned into Hardy’s posterboy. (Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he buys this for one of his young girlfriends.)

Fabolous & Jon Gosselin Wearing Ed Hardy (Isn’t it ironic what Jon’s shirt says?) Who wore it best: Fab is clearly the more fabulous of the two to me!

I’m not sure how well received these makeup palettes will be. What do you ladies think?

Is this taking a trend too far?

‘Jon and Kate Plus 8:’ TLC hands Jon Gosselin a lawsuit

October 19th, 2009

Former “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ star Jon Gosselin will soon be distanced even further from TLC; on Friday morning the cable channel and their parent company, Discovery Communications, filed a lawsuit in Maryland claiming that Jon has performed a breach of contract by agreeing to make paid appearances on other shows such as “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider.”

One of the foundations of Jon’s contract with TLC is that of exclusivity: regardless of what his own desires are, Jon cannot appear on other TV shows without prior consent. In addition, Jon has talked about some elements of production (including pay) in interviews with Larry King, which is yet another mark against the agreement signed by him and the network.

Jon has taken a rebellious stance against TLC for several months, even before the network came out and announced a potential name change to “Kate Plus Eight.” He has tried unsuccessfully to promote Ed Hardy clothing during episodes of the series, and has also made repeated claims that the show allows Kate to “exploit” his children.

Jon is currently in a quest to keep his children off television, something that could have encouraged TLC to expedite this lawsuit. Without Jon’s consent, they cannot continue any filming of the children and will be forced to push forward with a show starring only Kate.

Are you surprised that TLC has decided to sue Jon? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment below! I will have more on this and other “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ news as it becomes available.
